Rochon Born at Torrance (a suburb of Los Angeles), is the daughter Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos was her high school. She graduated in 1982. In 1986, she graduated from California State University Dominguez Hill (CSUDH) with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, minoring in theatre and sociology. In the year 2016 Rochon was back at CSUDH to be the main speaker for the commencement ceremonies for CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities

Ullerup's debut role was as Julia Brynn on the remake TV series Battlestar Galactica in 2006, which aired on the Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary television series in its first and second seasons, until it was written off. People were angry over the departure of her character, and many were hoping to see her come back for future shows. The show ended 2012, but not before an intense discussion. Ullerup was Bree O'Brien, in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie that chronicles the disaster of 2015.
